Fly Looking Makeup
Elevating Brand Identity
Role: Creative Director, Marketing Consultant
Objective: To seamlessly rebrand Ellie's makeup artistry business from Makeup Artistry by Ellie to Fly Looking Makeup, blending her dual professions as a flight attendant and a professional makeup artist into a cohesive brand identity.
Strategy and Execution: I facilitated the rebranding process by connecting Ellie with a trusted designer and actively participated in translating her vision into the new brand elements, including logo, monograms, and color schemes. I ensured that the new branding reflected both her makeup artistry and aviation background, providing continuous feedback and guidance throughout the design process.
Once the branding elements were established, I applied these new visuals across various business assets. I designed business cards that mirrored the new aesthetic and undertook a complete overhaul of Ellie’s website. This included not just a visual refresh but comprehensive copywriting that intertwined her unique positioning in both the film and bridal industries of LA and Minneapolis. The website's copy was crafted to appeal to her diverse clientele, with an emphasis on her expertise in not only bridal and film makeup but also runway and photoshoots.
Additionally, the website features a blog that offers beauty and travel tips, enhancing her persona as a traveling makeup artist. This element was designed to give the brand a feel of a travel blog, further emphasizing her unique niche.
Consulting and Marketing Strategy: Beyond the creative work, I provided Ellie with extensive consulting on how to market her revamped brand effectively. This included strategies for distributing newsletters that drive engagement, collecting email addresses, and maintaining communication with both prospective and existing clients. I guided her on leveraging her unique brand story to activate her brand presence and expand her reach in both her primary markets.
Results: The rebranding led to a revitalized online presence for Fly Looking Makeup, aligning perfectly with Ellie’s vision of merging her careers. The website refresh and new business cards have received positive feedback from clients, enhancing her professional image. The strategic advice on client engagement and newsletter distribution has started to show results, increasing client interactions and boosting bookings.
Reflection: Working with Ellie on Fly Looking Makeup was a comprehensive exercise in blending creative direction with strategic marketing. This project highlighted my ability to manage multifaceted branding initiatives that not only transform a business’s aesthetic but also strategically position it for growth in competitive markets. The success of this rebranding has reinforced my capabilities in delivering tailored marketing solutions that resonate with unique brand identities, preparing me for further challenges in creative and marketing leadership roles.
